If we leave Iraq to twist in the wind the only thing that will happen is it will become a complete and total warzone, moreso than it is now, and the "other" countries will take control of the country. Look at the recent occurance of us finding IRANIAN soldiers in Iraq.

Webb couldn't buy a clue about what to do in Iraq. He gets his daily soundbite from is Democratic puppet masters and as soon as they want him to he will change his tune. We now have a puppet for a Jr. Senator, I just hope he doesn't mess up too much stuff while he is playing senator.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15898206.post-1167571191200079282006-12-31T08:19:00.000-05:002006-12-31T08:19:00.000-05:00Cruzer........Using your thought process, at what ...Cruzer........

Using your thought process, at what point do we get to defend ourselves? And where is the logic process to we calculate that they don't use logic, but rather use Fundamentalism as a decision making and behavioral determinator. Which excercises no basis in logic but in belief, which is a completely untestable process.

Your argument/comment triggers a pet peeve of mine. People who attempt to apply retroactive logic and modern thinking to actions spawned by cultural differences and different types of logic.

When it comes to dealing with the type of enemy we are currently dealing with there can only be two approaches: Reactive or Proactive.

Reactive is nice for people who don't want to take actions or do anything other than just research and analyze facts, but unfortunately it also requires just reacting to what ever happens to us and picking up the pieces after someone else knocks them down. It is really good for completely logical thinkers because everything on OUR side then is rooted solidly in facts because all we look at is the past and what happened.

Proactive is nice for people who don't like to see our cities, ships, plane, ect. getting knocked over, blown up, sunk, bombed, crashed, ect. ect. ect. But unfortunately when you take proactive action it is not as neat and clean for research and complete logical thought processes. The basic argument would be something to the effect of Action A stopped Event B resulting in a safer enviroment, BUT if Event B never occured can we test to the fact of Action A being effective? Of course the answer is no we cannot test to confirm that proactive measures were effective because if/when proactive measures are effective then there is no way to determine if the event was stopped by the proactive measure, some unknown factor, or that the event was cancelled. The plus side of proactive thinking/action in the current war is that the destruction, majority of casualties, and hardship is happening somewhere other than in our country.

I for one will take proactive measures in war time. Every war won has been won by proactive measures. And yes, before anyone points it out, many wars themselves were started by proacive measures. I prefer to be on the winning side, and there is no way that we will win this war by being reactive only.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15898206.post-1167320220044198882006-12-28T10:37:00.000-05:002006-12-28T10:37:00.000-05:00Peace4All,Which surrounding countries do we move o...Peace4All,

Which surrounding countries do we move our troops into? Seems that many of the insurgents & terrorists which are the problem in Baghdad are from the surrounding countries.

It has been proven that Iraq had weapons of Mass destruction but none, or very little have been found. Iraq also did not prove that these WMD's were destroyed so they went somewhere. I believe there were many reports of them being moved into surrounding countries like Syria and the likes. Would this not also be seen as being weak as we did after the "Black Hawk Down" incident just mentioned? If the attacks were to continue in Baghdad or other parts of Iraq how long before we move troops back in only to have the terrorist to hide again? Cruzersfriend is right that we must use our brains and not overreact to the attacks by those only trying to defend themselves against our invasion into their country. We are so lucky now that we have a Senator like Jim Webb who is able to see that and will get us out of the land we have no business in being at. He has seen war first hand and understands that we must talk to these people to understand their ways and to help heal their wounds.Let's give Peace a chance!!!!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15898206.post-1167196737420435402006-12-27T00:18:00.000-05:002006-12-27T00:18:00.000-05:00cruz what you talkin about? i no understand nothin...cruz what you talkin about? i no understand nothin you say.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-15898206.post-1167161638319266992006-12-26T14:33:00.000-05:002006-12-26T14:33:00.000-05:00It's difficult to understand how so many could for...It's difficult to understand how so many could forget such a life-changing incident that occurred just five years ago. The crumbling Twin Towers, the burned-out Pentagon, the crash site in Pennsylvania should be daily reminders to us all ... but unfortunately the media chose to remove those images to "protect" us. What they actually did was harm us even more so that we end up with discussions like the one currently being played out over banning a legitimate, though gory, image of terrorism at its most gruesome.Lynn R.
