"Let's try to keep up here Dave"...

Manassas VA.

Had the opportunity today to go up to Manassas Airport to hear Senator George Allen as well as Senator John Warner and VA Attorney General Bob McDonnell speak. I also noticed NBC Reporter David Gregory circling the area and waiting for Senator Allen to complete his speech so he could interview the Senator. Senator Allen was at the airport to receive the endorsements of several VFW organizations and to talk about issues important to the citizens of Virginia before the election in 3 weeks.

Senator Allen spoke about the importance of the war on terrorism and the important front we have on this war in Iraq as well as preparing the Iraqi people to take control of their country and new democracy. He spoke of the importance of this war and that the threats are real and we will not get a second chance and if the terrorist in Iraq are given an opening they will hit again. “Jim Webb will give them that opening”.

Senator Allen continued and spoke about many important issues and then concluded his speech and thanked those gathered there. I then noticed David Gregory move over to interview the Senator and was able to find a spot to get a photo and hear the exchange. Senator Allen started the interview stating the important issues concerning the citizens of Virginia as well as the United States.

I could see that Gregory was not interested at all with the facts and the issues and as soon as he could he brought up the “Maccaca” issue and how it will effect the election. Senator Allen was polite but also quick to return the conversation to the issues and the facts. Gregory once again did not seem interested and followed up with the question of how the Senator feels the voters will feel about him since he supported President Bush so often. Senator Allen stated that he felt confident that the voters will support him favorably and only wished the President “agreed with him more often”. Classic line and reply and Gregory lost interest in the interview right away. Doubt much of the interview will actually make it to broadcast for Gregory did not get the “gem” he was looking for.

It is unfortunate that Gregory, as well as the MainScream media and many LOCAL newspapers do not see that Senator Allen is talking the important issues and what he will do when he is re-elected by the people of Virginia. They seem to ignore that Jim Webb continues to avoid the true issues and has the support of the MainScream\Local media in doing this. Thanks for reading the blogs and talking with the people who attend functions and get the truth out…

Was not sure what show Gregory was with now so did a search on Google. Found many things that he has done over the years and there are too many to list here now but did see this listing which brought back memories of his actions…

"NBC White House correspondent David Gregory, who apologized last week for calling White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan a "jerk," called into MSNBC's IMUS Thursday morning — apparently drunk!"

"Slow-thaw?"

$90,000

So has anybody heard anything about the Democratic Representative from Louisiana, William Jefferson lately???

"FBI agents videotaped Rep. William Jefferson, a Louisiana Democrat, accepting $100,000 in cash they said was intended as a bribe for a Nigerian official and later found $90,000 of the money hidden in his freezer, according to a court document released on Sunday."

"The document said the eight-term congressman received the cash from an FBI informant, who approached the bureau in March 2005 with her suspicion that Jefferson and two business associates conspired to defraud her out of $3.5 million."

"Born Fighting" - Campaign Finance Reform?...

C.F.R

"In his first work of nonfiction, bestselling novelist James Webb tells the epic story of the Scots-Irish, a people whose lives and...."

Anybody notice how fast Jim Webb stated that "Born Fighting" was a term used to describe Scots-Irish people after Senator Allen referred to "Born Fighting" as Webb's campaign motto during the recent debate? Earlier today before the debate a friend pointed out to me the motto "Born Fighting", which is used in the Webb campaign and is seen on many signs all over the place, is also the title to one of the books written by Jim Webb. He also questioned if this is a violation of the Campaign Finance Reform that went thru awhile back by promoting the campaign in a indirect way...

I also found it interesting that there was talk of limiting the use of the "Born Fighting" a few weeks back by the campaign and that it would not be used anymore. And now Webb is quick to state that it is a term to describe Scots-Irish people when used during a campaign debate. Another interesting thing I found was that if you go to James Webb.com website you will find a full description of Webb's books and links to buy this same book alongwith a link to the Webb for Senate website...

Way to Rally the Troops...

Staunton VA.

It seems that several of the Marriage Amendment signs have gone missing in the Staunton City area and pulled from residents front lawns and other high profile areas. It will not be a big problem to replace these for there is much support for this amendment and issue but this act of thievery has brought on a surprising groundswell of support and determination. The act of theft along with the intrusion onto private property has resulted in a new and stronger determination by many who had their signs stolen... Many have been replaced and here are just a few back out there getting the message out... For more information go to the website: www.va4marriage.org ...

Liberal Arts -Drama-

Staunton Drama

Over at "The Common Man" he has a post about a recent discussion by a local Drama teacher and several students about the marriage amendment coming up on the next ballot. Take a look at some of the statements made by the teacher in front of our students and see what you think. She does state "I’m looking out for your future and for your children’s’ futures"

It is interesting that she makes this comment after some of the other things she says in front of the students...

It's getting tougher and tougher to grow up these days...

Front Page NewsLeader material???

A field staffer for Democratic congressional candidate Al Weed took a cheap shot at Senator Allen in a e-mail calling for Democratic supporters to protest the Senator at a Republican rally.
The staffer took a swing with her own nickname for the Senator and made a Jewish alteration refering to the Senator...

The staffer resigned as she should have.
But will the local newspaper even mention it in their issue?
Will they do an editorial cartoon about it?
Wait and see...

Staunton News

Staunton Virginia

Recently there has been an addition to the local "News Sources" in the Staunton News blog at
http://www.stauntonnews.net/ . It is a welcomed addition to the local blogs that have been providing the "rest of the story" that is not provided by the local newspapers and gives the local population a place to go to get the facts that tend to fall between the cracks, or pushed thru the cracks, by the local media.

The Staunton News also provides a running list of recent postings to local GOP bloggers and makes it an easy stop to see what is going on in the neighboorhood. Some have asked why all the blogs seem to be "Conservative and\or Right-Wing" but it is obvious to see that the local papers are all the "Left-Wing and\or Liberal" readers need for they obviously lean, lurch, sway, protract, incline, slant, slope, prefer, swing, heel, tilt, heave, to the left in their coverage and opinion...

RightsideVA is proud to be included in the blog-roll of this new site...

Just like Clock-Work...

Clock-work...

Did you ever notice that around 4 to 5 weeks before an election the Democrats MainScream media comes out with something they have been saving just for the "right moment" to bring it out. This week it was the Foley e-mails that exposed this congressman for his sorry actions and I agree he should have resigned his office for his actions. Now of course there is the history of Democratic Gerry Studd and what he did to an underage Page and how he turned his back to the congress when he was censured but that is another post...

But yet it is the timing that comes to light and should be noted. Remember back during the 2000 election when the info about a DUI conviction for George W. Bush all of a sudden came to light... Don't forget just before the 2004 election when John Kerry made his WMD claims...

Pretty much happens every election just like Clock-Work....

And here is another one. Just before every election they will start playing the movie "The American President" with Mike Douglas as a President who turns out to be such a loving caring man who in the end changes his mind and policy to save the world from Global Warming!!!

Don't laugh. It was on last night and I saw it scheduled the other week...

Big Unions…Big Money…Many Votes…

Kaine

Have you noticed recently the big push for a minimum wage increase in Virginia, which is rated #1 for business, has a low unemployment rate of 3.3%, and a very good quality of life rating.

Many of the local members of the “Democratic” party have been pushing this issue and claiming it is the “right thing to do” for the people and is only fair.

This issue has been debated several times on RightsideVA and in the local media and has gotten heated at times. I am still waiting for somebody to show me a person working in Augusta County for the minimum wage of $5.15 and to present what job skills that person has and if those skills command more pay. The free market works and a person with increased\learned job skills will and have been paid more for they produce more and are more valuable to the job market. I have also asked how raising the minimum wage will increase\promote job skills and what will be the incentive for the worker to learn more and thus improve their skills and making themselves more valuable…

Recently I had the opportunity to hear Michael Reynold, the Executive Director of Free Enterprise Watch and he provided some very interesting information. The following information is from the website

www.freeenterprisewatch.org and it shows that VA Democratic Governor Tim Kaine received 10 times the amount of campaign contributions from “Big Labor” then the previous governor and how he has appointed many “Big Labor” members to his cabinet.

Check out the following information and this might just explain the big push for a minimum wage increase in Virginia and how it will benefit(?) the worker. Or will it benefit Big Labor and unions who require their workers to pay dues which are then given to candidates of the unions choice and not the workers choice.

Maybe this is why the local Democrats claim they want to talk to Senator Allen about supporting an increase in the minimum wage? For the benefit of the workers or the union? Maybe they should ask Democratic Governor Kaine why he took so much in “Big Labor” campaign contributions?

Labor Money
- Organized labor spent more than $1.95 million in last year’s three statewide races.
- Governor Kaine received more than 10 times the amount of campaign contributions from
big labor than the previous governor received.
- The Service Employees International Union gave Governor Kaine’s campaign three times
the total amount of all labor contributions that Governor Warner received.
- This year, a non-election year, big labor has contributed over $315,000 to anti-business
officials and organizations.

Appointments
- The governor has placed union officials at the highest levels of state government. The
Administration’s policy and message are controlled by union operatives.
- The governor has appointed former AFL-CIO president Daniel LeBlanc to be his Senior
Workforce Advisor, a cabinet-level position. As recently as February 2006 LeBlanc has
called Virginia’s Right-to-Work law “right to work for less.”
- The governor has said LeBlanc is in a position to “make the biggest mark of anywhere in
state government.”
- Jean Bankos, former president of the VEA, is Senior Advisor to the Governor for
Educational Projects. The NEA has recently advocated for a federal minimum wage for
all teachers.
- Delacey Skinner, the communications director for the governor, worked for George
Soros’ 527 group, America Coming Together (ACT) - a partner with the Change to Win
and AFL-CIO coalition to raise the minimum wage.
- Maurice Henderson, the governor’s deputy press secretary, was an employee of the
United Steelworkers of America and ACT.

Labor Money in Virginia
In his 2005 campaign for governor, Tim Kaine received more than $1.4 million from organized
labor. Including contributions to his inaugural committee, Governor Kaine received more than $1.55 million in union money. This is far and away the largest amount of money ever spent by labor unions in a Virginia statewide election. To put this in perspective, Governor Kaine received more than 10 times the amount of money than the previous governor received.

Contrary to what some union officials contend, raising the minimum wage does not reduce
poverty rates. A recent study by Ohio University examined the correlation between a raise in
entry-level wages and poverty rates. The economists found that there was no reduction in
poverty even when broken down by gender, age, ethnicity and race. In fact, in some categories, “negative employment effects” actually increased poverty.xv Allowing the free market to work makes sense. Employers pay their employees what the markets will bear - giving them the flexibility and freedom to choose how to compensate their employees. With Virginia’s unemployment rate holding steady at 3.3%xvi, keeping the minimum wage at its current level is the right choice for keeping our economy vibrant and productive.

The Numbers Don’t Lie
Right-to-Work laws attract new businesses to states, providing good-paying jobs and a high
quality of life. “Hundreds of site-searching companies and their consultants eliminate non-
Right-to-Work states from the beginning,” says southern business owner and author Joe
Hollingsworth. Specifically, Right-to-Work states expand a state’s manufacturing sector. From 1977-2001 Right-to-Work states gained more than 800,000 manufacturing jobs. On the other hand, compulsory union states lost nearly 2,000,000 jobs in this same time period.xxii Data from the U.S. Census Bureau reveals that 637,000 Americans between 21 and 30 years old have relocated from forced union states to Right-to-Work states since 2000.xxiii Between 1990 and 2001, Right-to-Work states have had a population growth of almost 8 percent higher than non-Right-to-Work states.xxiv

Why are Union bosses opposed to Right-to-Work?
For large labor organizations, worker dues are the sole sustaining force that keeps them
powerful. If workers are not compelled to contribute a portion of their paycheck to the union,
then the unions lose money and relevance. When states do not have Right-to-Work protection, a monopoly exists; leaving employees with no choice but to pay up. If unions are receiving compulsory income from workers who only join because they do not wish to be fired, the union’s power is inflated and, some argue, that the individual worker’s constitutional right to freely associate has been abridged. By forcing those who otherwise would not join the union to join, they collect additional revenue and exert inflated political power.

Attorney General Bob McDonnell...

30 September 2006

Attorney General Bob McDonnell was in Harrisonburg today at a Community Clean-up project working with volunteers. Over at United Conservatives blog Flora had a great post about the Attorney Generals daughter just back from serving in iraq...
