"Let Jack Bauer do it!!!"

.

Seems that when Sandy Berger made a deal to avoid jail time he agreed to take a polygraph test if the Justice department decided it was needed. The Washington Times reports that 18 House Republicans are now urging the Justice Department to hold Sandy-boy to his agreement…

Just a few weeks back it was reported that Sandy admitted that when he removed documents about the Clinton-9/11 response to terrorism he hid them under a trailer outside of the archives building. These are the documents that he took by “Mistake” and unfortunately some were destroyed when he was routinely cutting paper just for fun…

This guy is a joke and he should have had the book thrown at him…

He hid terrorism related intelligence documents in his pants and removed them from the archives only to destroy them before he testified about Clintons actions and\or lack of actions related to fighting terrorism.

We need to hook this thief up to the machine and see what he really knows and what he is hiding.

I SAY WE LET JACK BAUER DO IT !!!

Working on list now of questions to ask Sandy-boy once he is hooked up to the machine…

"There is GOOD News out there ??!!"

Iraq “Air Force Chief Master Sgt. John Gebhardt, of the 332nd Expeditionary Medical Group at Balad, Iraq, cradles a young girl as they both sleep in the hospital. The Girl’s entire family was executed by insurgents; the killers shot her in the head as well. The girl received treatment at the U.S. military hospital in Balad, but cries and moans often. According to the nurses at the facility, Gebhardt is the only one who can calm down the girl, so he has spent the last several nights holding her while they both sleep in a chair.”

This was sent to me by a friend in New Jersey who had it passed on to him. I do not have the actual newspaper that it was printed in but the photo credit is "David Gilmore Jr. \ United States Air Force" so it may be a military publication. My friend asked if I had seen this photo published anywhere else and this is the only place I have seen it hardcopy. I must have missed it if it was published in my local newspaper here in Staunton Virginia, or maybe they had more pressing issues to discuss. I advised him that with all the media coverage of the war on terrorism and the battles in Iraq & Afghanistan you would think this would have been published most everywhere. Unfortunately it seems this type of "News" is not note worthy or deserving of print space in the mainstream media.

Win or ignore?

Signs are starting to show up around town calling for "Win the War" as compared to some that were calling for "End the War" and seen at a recent local anti-war protest.

It is evident to many that we must win this war in Iraq and continue the war on world terrorism. If not America and other allies will be attacked again by those who strive to kill all those who do not believe as the terrorist believe...

Speaker of the House Pelosi and her gang will be calling for a vote on the war in Iraq. The Democrats, including Virginia Senator Jim Webb have called for troop removal and a strategy of "Re-deployment". A strategy that have not discussed and I very much doubt they have. They only see this as a political opportunity and do not offer any real plan to continue this fight on terrorism and the protection of the citizens...

"Follow the Bird, Follow the Money"...

Today there was much coverage of how a well known meteorologist has called for all American Meteorological Society (AMS) certified meteorologist that deny Global Warming is caused by humans, have their credentials revoked…
http://news.independent.co.uk/environment/article2165452.ece

Now we can, and will, debate this for sometime and it is a key topic of the “Pelosi 100 hour agenda” but here is the interesting part that few of the scientific community will discuss. Another well known meteorologist responded with this: “*Billions of dollars of grant money is flowing into the pockets of those on the man-made global warming bandwagon. No man-made global warming, the money dries up. This is big money, make no mistake about it. Always follow the money trail and it tells a story. Even the lady at “The Weather Channel” probably gets paid good money for a prime time show on climate change. No man-made global warming, no show, and no salary. Nothing wrong with making money at all, but when money becomes the motivation for a scientific conclusion, then we have a problem. For many, global warming is a big cash grab.” http://epw.senate.gov/public/index.cfm?FuseAction=PressRoom.Blogs&ContentRecord_id=3a9bc8a4-802a-23ad-4065-7dc37ec39adf
Follow the crisis, find the money…

Back when I lived in the Florida Keys I worked on a Sportfishing boat that took daily charters both offshore and into the Gulf looking for gamefish. There are many “Tricks & Tactics” to finding game fish and one of the most common and reliable is finding and following birds. The Great Frigate bird is very good at following large individual game fish as well as schools of fish to locate the baitfish they feed on. Once the game fish locate abd begin to feed on the baitfish it is common to find several Frigate Birds feeding on wounded baitfish and scraps. Follow the bird, find the fish…

While living in the Keys I took several Marine biology courses at the local college and spent some extra discussion time with the department head talking about the local fishing industry and conditions. Many times during class breaks we would talk about the days fishing and what the conditions were that day. After awhile the Professor suggested that I apply for a grant to study a fishing related topic for there was a considerable amount of grant money not being utilized. At first I was surprised that he suggested that I should apply for a grant and I questioned what I could do a study on. He advised me that it was not hard to receive a grant as long as the paperwork was written correctly and supported. He told me that there were grants for thousands of dollars available and that many were not being used at that time and I should take advantage of this money.
At first I did not take this offer seriously and threw out some odd ideas for grants just to keep the conversations going. The Professor played along but yet continued that I look at the idea and give it some thought. Now living and working in the Florida Keys is a unique opportunity and I am grateful for the time I spent there but it is expensive to live in “Paradise”. When the tourism season slowed so did my charters and income. I came up with a proposal to identify, track, and record the Great Frigate birds I saw during our Sportfishing charters for we encountered them most every trip. This idea was accepted and encouraged by the Professor, which I admired and enjoyed his classes, as a very possible grant topic.

I later decided that I could not justify receiving money for something as simple as “Watching Birds” to get grant money. This was nothing new or secret and there are many articles written by senior fishermen about this subject. In fact the Captain that I worked with at the time was very well known in the Sportfishing community for his knowledge of identifying birds and what game fish they were following at the time.

I doubt very seriously that I would have discovered any additional secret to the habits of the Frigate birds and my research would have been filed away with other grant topics. But it did show me that with many studies or research projects, one must look for the money to find the true reason for a “Research topic”…

Goodlatte is #001...

.

Congressman Bob Goodlatte, seen here with Ssgt. Herb Harman, attended the monthly Republican breakfast in Staunton and spoke about what is going on in Washington and Congress. The Congressman spoke about a bill he introduced in the House of Represntaives that calls for balanced budgets in the future. He also advised us that this bill was #001 introduced in this new 110th Congress...

"The Republican Shenandoah Valley congressman introduced a balanced budget constitutional amendment, and he has already garnered more than 100 co-sponsors, including a number of Democrats."

Just paying off those nasty credit-card bills...

.

Looks like the former "Oil for Food" chief for the United Nations, Benon Sevan, decided he needed to take care of some of those "Nasty" credit card bills hanging out there...

It is now reported that Sevan has been indicted for taking bribes from Hussein's sale of oil for food, a program that Sevan and budyy Koffi were responsible for...

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,243909,00.html

Now are not these the guys that were also responsible for the U.N. Inspectors that were in Iraq looking for WMD's and being led around by Hussein as he wished. Everytime they would get close to something Hussein would detract the inspectors or kick them out of the country all together.

And how much "Bite" did all of those U.N. resolutions have against Hussein and his actions?

What a joke the United Nations has been, continues to be, and how some claim the U.N. as the solution to all of our problems...

Delegate Ben Cline (R)

.

Delegate Ben Cline has proposed "The Virginia Student Protection Act", House Bill #2169 which would prevent ILLEGAL immigrants from getting in state tuition rates and benefits.

The NewsLeader did cover this and several other bills that Delegate Cline has submitted but I found it interesting how the NewsLeader titled their article on this.

"Cline proposes punishing illegal students"
http://search.newsleader.com/sp?gId=100&gcId=76340&rNum=1&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.newsleader.com%2Fapps%2Fpbcs.dll%2Farticle%3FAID%3D2007701130316

If these "Students" are illegally in this country are we "punishing" them by not giving them in-state benefits?

Should not we require them to leave the country all together?

Should we put them on a true Education Visa where they would be closely watched and ensure they pay full tuition?

Are we not "Punishing" true American citizens and students by giving this benefit to a person illegally in this country?

We must stand up and face the ILLEGAL immigration issue and I commend Delegate Cline for his actions...

Just down the street!!!

Staunton, VA.

One day after the President’s speech the “Augusta Coalition for Peace and Justice” had their routine protest of “Anything against Bush” in downtown Staunton at their favorite hangout. Ironically it is located just a few hundred yards from the Staunton NewsLeader building. Now with an event like this, 20 people standing on the corner, a local newspaper would be sure to cover a story like this especially with it being in their backyard. The interesting thing is how the NewsLeader once again covered this routine event, which happens whenever the Augusta Coalition has the opportunity to attack the President, without asking the protesters for serious and responsible solutions. http://newsleader.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070112/NEWS01/701120335/1002

Another interesting thing is the NewsLeader did not provide any information from the other side of this issue or comments from those who understand the importance of this military action and support the President. The NewsVirginian newspaper, based out of Waynesboro VA., also covered this protest and provided comments from a Army Sergeant who just returned from serving a year in downtown Baghdad. http://newsvirginian.com/servlet/Satellite?pagename=WNV/MGArticle/WNV_BasicArticle&c=MGArticle&cid=1149192616046&path=

Sergeant Herb Harman just returned last week and is a resident of Churchville and he provided his real life experiences of being in the middle of the fight and what he saw while serving. Not surprisingly this was different from what the Coalition protesters claim and the NewsLeader chose not to provide this “Other” viewpoint. The return of Sergeant Harman has been covered on this blog as well as other local blogs that the NewsLeader editors monitor and contact with the Sergeant would have been easy if the “other” side was desired. Hey, the NewsVirginian was able to obtain the “Other” side to the story and they are not even located a couple hundred yards from where the Coalition protest happened!

Congress starting to smell "Fishy" already...

Tuna

Caught this on the News this morning in the background while checking on my favorite local newspaper (NewsLeader) to see what they covered and NOT covered as usual...

Seems that Minimum Wage increase package that the new Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi was so hot to get passed, had a change to it that many members of Congress did not know about when they voted on it. And this from the Speaker who promised a "New and ethical" Congress to the voters.

Turns out the new Minimum Wage package extends out to those working in the U.S. territory of the Northern Mariana Islands. However, it exempts American Samoa, another Pacific island territory that would become the only U.S. territory not subject to federal minimum-wage laws.

The Washington Times had an interesting story on this and it turns out: "One of the biggest opponents of the federal minimum wage in Samoa is StarKist Tuna, which owns one of the two packing plants that together employ more than 5,000 Samoans, or nearly 75 percent of the island's work force. StarKist's parent company, Del Monte Corp., has headquarters in San Francisco, which is represented by Mrs. Pelosi."

Now here is the best part. The Republicans called them on this!!!

"During the House debate yesterday on stem-cell research, Mr. McHenry raised a parliamentary inquiry as to whether an amendment could be offered that would exempt American Samoa from stem-cell research, "just as it was for the minimum-wage bill."

A clearly perturbed Rep. Barney Frank, the Massachusetts Democrat who was presiding, cut off Mr. McHenry and shouted, "No, it would not be."

"So, the chair is saying I may not offer an amendment exempting American Samoa?" Mr. McHenry pressed. "The gentleman is making a speech and will sustain," Mr. Frank shouted as he slammed his large wooden gavel against the rostrum." http://washingtontimes.com/national/20070112-120720-2734r.htm

Now in the world of Sportfishing it is common to yell out "Tuna in the boat" once the fish is gafted and brought on deck where it will thrash around and injure those not paying attention.

Another fishing term is to "Flounder" around which is a term used to describe what happens when you pull a Flounder fish on the deck and it just flops around aimlessly and stuttering at the sametime. Pretty much describes Barney Frank does it not?

Imagine what Congress will smell like after the first 100 hours with all these fish "Floundering" around.

P.S. Please do not associate the incomparable Flounder from "Animal House" to the "Barney Frank - Flounder" for there can be no comparison at all...

Commentary from Colorado...

.

A little commentary from some friends in Colorado:

Weather Bulletin - DenverUp here, in the "Mile-High City", we just recovered from an Historic event--- may I even say a "Weather Event" of "Biblical Proportions" --- with a historic blizzard of up to 44" inches of snow and winds to 90 MPH that broke trees in half, knocked down utility poles, stranded hundreds of motorists in lethal snow banks, closed ALL roads, isolated scores of communities and cut power to 10's of thousands.

FYI:George Bush did not come.

FEMA did nothing.

No one howled for the government.

No one blamed the government.

No one even uttered an expletive on TV.

Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton did not visit.

Our Mayor did not blame Bush or anyone else.

Our Governor did not blame Bush or anyone else, either.

CNN, ABC, CBS, FOX or NBC did not visit - or report on this category 5 snowstorm.

Nobody demanded $2,000 debit cards.

No one asked for a FEMA Trailer House.

No one looted.

Nobody - I mean Nobody demanded the government do something.

Nobody expected the government to do anything, either.

No Larry King, No Bill O'Rielly, No Oprah, No Chris Mathews and No Geraldo Rivera.

No Sean Penn, No Barbara Striesand, No Hollywood types to be found.

Nope, we just melted the snow for water.

Sent out caravans of SUV's to pluck people out of snow engulfed cars.

The truck drivers pulled people out of snow banks and didn't ask for a penny.

Local restaurants made food and the police and fire departments delivered it to the snowbound families.

Families took in the stranded people - total strangers.

We fired up wood stoves, broke out coal oil lanterns or Coleman lanterns.

We put on extra layers of clothes because up here it is "Work or Die".

We did not wait for some affirmative action government to get us out of a mess created by being immobilized by a welfare program that trades votes for 'sittin at home' checks.

Even though a Category "5" blizzard of this scale has never fallen this early, we know it can happen and how to deal with it ourselves.

I hope this gets passed on.

Maybe SOME people will get the message.

The world does Not owe you a living.

"If we ever forget that we're one nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under." - Ronald Reagan

This was sent to me in a e-mail that is being passed along.

Please do the same...
