The fear at that time and described in this NewsWeek article was that the global temperature was “COOLING” and that we were all doomed but little was expected to be done . “The longer the planners delay, the more difficult they will find it to cope with climatic change once the results become grim reality”…
Included in this NewsWeek article was a chart showing the “Average temperature change” which showed an increase in temperature from 1880 to 1942 at which point the temperatures proceeded to decline sharply to the 1970’s when this article was written. Was that temperature spike over that period caused by mankind as it is claimed now?

It seems that the topic of air-travel for the Speaker of the House has become a interesting topic in the news and on "The Hill" in Washington. It has been interesting to watch unfold considering that Madame Speaker Pelosi pledged to clean up washington once she got into power.
"Power = Perks" and it appears the Speaker has been looking for as many perks as possible including an upgrade to the plane provided by the military to fly her back and forth to San Fransicko. It seems that the same size plane provided to then Speaker of the House Hastert is not able to make the non-stop flight between D.C. & the Left coast without stopping to refuel. It has also been reported that the smaller plane would not be able to accomodate the staff, supporters, family, others that the Madame Speaker might like to give a ride to. In contrast to Speaker Hastert's use of the plane provided to the Speakers office:
"Air Force spokeswoman Lt. Col Cathy Reardon tells ABC News that when Hastert used the plane, "it was himself, and he usually had one to three staff members and two security staff — members of the Capitol police force. His wife would sometimes fly, and he reimbursed the government for everyone," paying the government for the cost of a commercial flight to the same place. Hastert's office did not return a call for comment."
Now many have said that this topic is petty and the only reason it has been reported is to embarrass the Madame Speaker. Of course I am sure that the "Democratic" side of the party is treating it as "Petty" and not newsworthy and there are more important things to do like "Drain the Swamp" of corruption in Washington D.C.

The same "Department of Defense" that "Foots" the bill for the Speakers travel on military planes and the cost of the larger plane requested by the Madame Speaker has been reported to be $300,000 per round trip...

Seems that the new Speaker of the House is taking full advantage of her position and has demanded that she have routine access to military aircraft for domestic flights... After 11 September 2001 this also became practice for then Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert to ensure proper security and reliable communications, but seems Speaker Pelosi wants to go a bit further with her privledges... "A former Hastert aide said the congressman did not use military planes for political trips or regularly transport his family".
"The sources, who include those in Congress and in the administration, said the Democrat is seeking regular military flights not only for herself and her staff, but also for relatives and for other members of the California delegation. A knowledgeable source called the request "carte blanche for an aircraft any time."
Yeah but how good can it be on a military flight? Do they at least give you an extra package of peanuts?

“Democratic” Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi made it her motto and desire to “Drain the Swamp of corruption” once her party took control of Congress.
It turns out now that maybe she did not mean her “Little corner of the swamp” and maybe her ambitions did not include her and some of her “Democratic Party” playmates… And this just weeks after it was discovered that a large corporation, that is headquartered in Pelosi's district of San Fransicko, is exempt of the minimum wage increase that the Democrats have promised to their voters.
The USAToday paper has an article about Pelosi and “Democratic” friends have failed to report their non-profit leadership positions in charities as required by law.
It seems the Democratic Speaker of the House has failed to report her leadership position in a charity since 1992, fourteen years running…
“The oldest and most prominent of the three is the Paul and Nancy Pelosi Charitable Foundation. Created in 1992, the non-profit has donated hundreds of thousands of dollars in recent years. The charity reported having about $576,000 on hand at the end of 2005 after donating $316,000 to other charities that year.”
Now what does it say about “Leaders” who state that they will “Drain the Swamp of Corruption” but yet direct leftover campaign contributions to the “Charity’s” of their choice?
What if your donation goes to a charity as a “Thank You” for support received during the election campaign that you do not agree with?

Looks like Heidi over at the Weather Channel has been busy with being a "Star" in the new "Everything's Cool" documentary that "accuses the U.S. government of "criminal neglect" and blames "right-wing think tanks" for helping to "defeat climate-friendly legislation." The film premiered last week at Robert Redford's Sundance Film Festival.
