Saturday was a Holiday for me!...

This past Saturday we had another snow storm here in the Shenandoah Valley that kept me and many co-workers from getting to work and making our assigned shift.

The company that I work for gives us 4 paid floating holidays and fortunately I was allowed to use one of my paid holidays for the 8hrs I missed on Saturday...

.

Compare that to the 230,000 "non-essential" Federal employees who did not have to report to work today in the Nations Capital due to another massive snow storm that has moved through the area...

.

The difference is that these "non-essential" federal employees are being paid and the missed work is estimated at $100,000,000 lost each day to the taxpayer and the workers are not required to use a personal day, floating holiday, or vacation day to make up the lost day...

.

Now I understand that the streets and transportation systems were under strain from the 3 feet of snowfall, but calling it a paid "Snowday" for all 230,000 "non-essential" workers, at a estimated cost of $100,000,000 to the taxpayer each day is a statement in itself...

.

There will be a slew of updates on how many inches of snow is now on the birdfeeder, the schools are closed, the neighbor just slipped in the driveway, and the porch is almost up to the picnic table...

Took a ride up to New Jersey this weekend for some offshore SCUBA diving with the members of the Point Pleasant Rescue Dive team and we did the Bluffs Wreck just off the beach in Bayhead NJ...

36 degree water with about a 3 to 4 foot visibility...

Obama threw out many dog bones...

President Obama threw out many bones to many different groups last night during his State of the Union speech...

Like many of the promises he made back during his campaign, he has not delivered or followed up on many of his "Hopes" and in fact has ignored many of his claims during the campaign...

.

So don't count on many of those promises made last night and enjoy your bone for now. But be sure to watch for somebody from Virginia who will be sure to hold the President on his stated claim to develop domestic energy sources offshore...

Virginia Senator Jim Webb was quick to come out with the following statement after Scott Brown took Massachusetts by storm....

"I believe it would only be fair and prudent that we suspend further votes on health care legislation until Senator-elect Brown is seated."

Both Virginia Senators Webb and Warner received many emails, phone calls, and trips to their district offices by many Virginia citizens telling them that they do not want the many liberal programs being railroaded through Congress by the Democratic Party and President Obama...

Senator Webb had the opportunity to vote against the Healthcare bill and chose to support and advance it...
