This past Saturday we had another snow storm here in the Shenandoah Valley that kept me and many co-workers from getting to work and making our assigned shift.

The company that I work for gives us 4 paid floating holidays and fortunately I was allowed to use one of my paid holidays for the 8hrs I missed on Saturday...

Compare that to the 230,000 "non-essential" Federal employees who did not have to report to work today in the Nations Capital due to another massive snow storm that has moved through the area...

The difference is that these "non-essential" federal employees are being paid and the missed work is estimated at $100,000,000 lost each day to the taxpayer and the workers are not required to use a personal day, floating holiday, or vacation day to make up the lost day...
.
Now I understand that the streets and transportation systems were under strain from the 3 feet of snowfall, but calling it a paid "Snowday" for all 230,000 "non-essential" workers, at a estimated cost of $100,000,000 to the taxpayer each day is a statement in itself...
