Cuccinelli needs to focus probe into Mann's scientific work that we paid for....

Albemarle County Circuit Court Judge Paul Peatross' recently determined that Attorney General Cuccinelli did not properly determine the scope of the inquiry into Professor Mann's work on Global Warming and the data to back up his "Hockey Stick" theory that proves Global Warming is "man-made" as many think it is...
.
The Roanoke Times:
"Peatross said the attorney general can issue such subpoenas to UVa and investigate state-funded grants to professors. But in this case, Peatross ruled, Cuccinelli failed to define the "nature of the conduct" that would justify an allegation of fraud and a demand for documents."
.
Professor Mann even came out and said that the "Hockey Stick" theory was "misplaced" and should not have become the icon it now is...
.
But the issue should be that ANY research performed using "Taxpayer Grant Money" is the taxpayers property and we should be allowed to review this data and ask the hard questions. We paid for it, we own it....
.
Many in the scientific community got upset and claimed that providing the data to AG Cuccinelli would suppress "Academic Freedom" as they see it and would have a chilling effect on future research...
.
As I have written before grant research money is a BIG BUSINESS for these guys and the universities they bring money to. Are they covering each others ass when it comes to peer review of each others work?...
.
And now it looks like many scientist are looking for changes to be made at the United Nations Climate Panel regarding its leadership and management structure... Will this be another "Chilling effect" on scientific research?....
.
Remember the UN Oil for Food program and the debacle that was?...

Global Warming "Hockey Stick" Scientist Michael Mann says it was "Somewhat misplaced"?....

Michael Mann says hockey stick should not have become 'climate change icon'

The scientist behind the controversial 'hockey stick' graph has said it was 'somewhat misplaced' to make his work an 'icon of the climate change debate'.

The U.K. Telegraph has this report that the infamous "Hockey Stick" graph developed by then UVA Scientist Michael Mann now has Mann saying it should have never become the icon it has...
.
This is the guy, along with the University of Virginia which continues to refuse to release the data that he used to come up with this "icon" and big part of Al Gore's argument regarding global warming...
.
In fact it is Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli who has been trying to get the data regarding the Hockey Stick model but the University of Virginia now refuses to release the data, which came as the result of numerous TAXPAYER FUNDED grants that Mann , to the Attorney General...
.

But the graph was questioned by sceptics who pointed out that is it impossible to know for certain the global temperature going back beyond modern times because there were no accurate readings.

The issue became a central argument in the climate change debate and was dragged into the 'climategate' scandal, as the sceptics accused Prof Mann and his supporters of exaggerating the extent of global warming.

.
So where was the Professor Mann when his Hockey Stick model was being used without question or allowed "peer" review???...
.
The graph was used by Al Gore in his film 'An Inconvenient Truth' and was cited by the United Nations body the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) as evidence of the link between fossil fuel use and global warming.
.
If there is no doubt to the data and it's conclusion, Turn over the data?
And ask Gore about that @2 million he was worth once he left the VP spot to the $100 million he is worth now...

UVA says NO to Cuccinelli... But this is why we should be able to see the data...

UVA University of Virginia has now come back saying that they will not release the data compiled by Prof. Mann, while using taxpayer funded grant money, to come up with his famous "Hockey Stick" theory for Global Warming...
.
Seems that 810 of the other scientist, who I venture to guess live on a depend on taxpayer funded grants, have gotten together to urge UVA not to release the data to the Attorney General who is investigating if any fraud is involved...
.
ICECAP has some great info on why UVA and Mann should release the data for all to see and review to justify the claims of Global Warming as related to the data...
.
Mann is the former UVA professor, whose “hockey stick” temperature chart was used to promote claims that “sudden” and “unprecedented” manmade global warming “threatens” human civilization and Earth itself. The hockey stick was first broken by climatologists Willie Soon and Sallie Baliunas, who demonstrated that a Medieval Warm Period and Little Ice Age were clearly reflected in historic data across the globe, but redacted by Mann. Analysts Steve McIntyre and Ross McKitrick later showed that Mann’s computer program generated hockey-stick patterns regardless of what numbers were fed into it - even random telephone numbers; that explained why the global warming and cooling of the last millennium magically disappeared in Mann’s “temperature reconstruction.”

Simple... Show us the data if there is nothing to hide... The taxpayers paid for it...

This behavior certainly gives Cuccinelli “probable cause” for launching an investigation. As the AG notes, “The same legal standards for fraud apply to the academic setting that apply elsewhere. The same rule of law, the same objective fact-finding process, will take place.” Some witch hunt...

Grants are BIG BUSINESS and at many levels...

Work by Mann and other alarmist scientists is not merely some theoretical exercise that can be permitted to “play itself out” over many years, if and when the “academic arena” gets around to it. These assertions of climate crisis are being used right now by Congress, states, courts and the Environmental Protection Agency to justify draconian restrictions on energy use and greenhouse emissions. They would shackle our freedoms and civil rights and hammer our jobs, economy, health, welfare and living standards...
.
Obama now has his Attorney General Eric Holder in the Gulf claiming that they will sue and punish any company that they determine causing the Deepwater Horizon incident. Think maybe he will get the Department of Justice looking at Mann, UVA, and the "Gang"?...

Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli requests data used for "Global Warming" claims...

Representative James Moran, Virginia-Democrat, recently criticized Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli’s request for the supporting data related to the research of climate scientist Michael Mann while at the University of Virginia.

Moran accuses the Attorney General of using his position to “Stifle academic freedom” with his request for the data Mann gathered while at UVA and now being used by the Environmental Protection Agency to potentially regulate greenhouse gasses. These regulations will cost both Virginia and the United States millions in lost industry and jobs…

Attorney General Cuccinelli is seeking the data from Mann’s research to see if it was flawed, manipulated, or misused before it was used by the EPA in developing their new regulations. This after it has been learned that vast amounts of data from other research institutes has been manipulated in a way to support the “Global Warming” theory and thus the EPA’s decision.

Now we have numerous academic groups and even the American Civil Liberties Union expressing their objection to the AG’s request.

The Attorney General has responded with:
"The use of manipulated data to apply for taxpayer-funded research grants in Virginia is potentially fraud. Given this, the only prudent thing to do was to look into it."

If Mann’s research and data is the product from tax funded research grants it should be available for public and peer group review, and if there is nothing to hide this should be a non-issue…
.
.
Awhile back I did a post about how there is such hunger for grants at colleges and how Research Grants has become BIG business...
.
In fact while attending a community College and studying Marine Biology as a past time, I was also working on a Sportfishing boat as a living and the Marine Biology Director suggested I take a grant to "Count Birds"...

RPV Advance ~2009~ and a 7-eleven with SCUBA access!!...

Had the opportunity to attend the breakfast session today of the RPV Advance being held in Williamsburg, VA. before coming back over the mountain to find five inches of SNOW in the Shenandoah Valley...
.
While driving to Williamsburg this morning I had a chance to listen to "The Speech" by Ronald Reagan that he did back in 1964...
.
For those of you who know this speech you know that many parts of it applies to the situation we are in once again and understand why many say this is the speech that launched Ronald Reagan's political career...
.
"They knew that governments don't control things. A government can't control the economy without controlling people. And they know when a government sets out to do that, it must use force and coercion to achieve its purpose. They also knew, those Founding Fathers, that outside of its legitimate functions, government does nothing as well or as economically as the private sector of the economy."...
.
Another interesting aspect of this speech is how closely it resembles the conservative beliefs of the then 2009 Republican Candidates and now elected Governor, Lt. Governor, Attorney General, and Delegates that "Sweep-ed" Richmond and the Shenandoah Valley...
The voters of Virginia were obviously seeking proven conservative beliefs and principles during this past election and that is why Virginia is RED once again...
.
"The Speech is available here and is well worth listening to it again...
.

After the breakfast I took a ride down to Norfolk to check out the surf and found the "Ultimate 7-Eleven" along the beach with SCUBA access just 15 feet behind the building!
.
Incredibly the bulkhead is just 15 feet behind the building and easy access could be made with a "Giant Stride" or "Jersey Roll" during high tide...
.

Walk out to the beach found a good 20-25kt wind out of the Northeast, less than 6 inches of Vis,
3 to 4 foot breakers on the beach, and cold water temp...
Typical Jersey diving conditions...
.

Hard to see in this photo but there was much apparent damage to the fishing pier on the horizon looking South...

End of the sign season ~2009~...

Today brought the end of the ~2009~ Sign Campaign season with the removal of the GOP campaign signs from "The Barn" just South of Harrisonburg on route 81...

.

Great location and always had motorist blaring their horns when we were there adding or moving campaign signs during the season. We were once asked how many people went by that barn and here is the best estimate I could find...

.

From the VDOT website it is reported that on average 44,000 vehicles travel along route 81 at this location with "The Barn" being visible from both directions of traffic. Campaign signs for McDonnell \ Bolling \ Cuccinelli went up on July 10th until November 25th for a total of 138 days...

.
44,000 avg. vehicles each day, 138 days, exposure to 6,072,000 vehicles...
.
David... Great location, well run campaigns, impressive Candidates,
OUTSTANDING Results !!!

Now that was fun...

Stop at the carwash...

Around 3pm I got a call from the local campaigns requesting that I get some large 4x8 signs over to the local hotel before the polls closed for the Victory celebration...
.
Imagine the look that I got from the owner of the car wash operation when I showed up with a 4x8 sign for each of the State and local Republican campaigns and I started feeding quarters in the machine to wash the signs...
.
He smiled, and then comped me the cost of the "sign washing" and congratulated the winning Virginia candidates...

Today I had the opportunity to drive numerous College Republicans around Charlottesville for door to door operations in preparation for election day Tuesday... This was a great group of knowledgeable college age Conservative Republicans who know their issues and spent a week of their time working the phones and neighborhoods in the Valley to help out the McDonnell~Bolling~Cuccinelli ticket as well as local Candidates...

Americans for Prosperity "Healthcare Tour" stops in Waynesboro...

The Americans for Prosperity "Hands off my Healthcare Express" tour bus made a stop in Waynesboro today with Senator\Governor George Allen and State Senator Ken Cuccinelli who is the GOP Candidate for Virginia Attorney General...
.
This tour bus is traveling across Virginia to bring the message regarding the Health care bill that the Obama administration, with the help of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, are trying to push through Congress...
.
As described by AFP...
.
"Some in Washington think Americans’ passion at August town halls was a fluke, but you and I know better. As the details of legislation are released by Congress, the level of government intrusion attached to health care reform becomes a frightening reality."

"The promise that ‘if you like what you have, you can keep it’ rings hollow when people see the reality of what Congress is proposing"...

Bob Goodlatte's Republican Reunion & Family Picnic ~2009~...

.

Congressman Bob Goodlatte was in Augusta County hosting the 2009 Republican Reunion & Family Picnic with 300+ local Republicans along with guest speakers Bob McDonnell, Bill Bolling, and numerous Candidates for the 2009 Virginia election...

Delegate Ben Cline was there after first starting off in Buena Vista for that event and told me that he will attend 5 to 7 events within the 24th district he represents during this weekend...

Candidate for the 20th district Dickie Bell talks with Ben Cline before being introduced by Congressman Goodlatte and the opportunity to speak to a very supportive crowd...

Delegate Steve Landes took the opportunity to talk to many from the 25th district that he represents and in fact arrived after spending time going door to door within the Verona area meeting and talking with the people he represents in Richmond...

My friend Luis showing off a tee-shirt he is very proud of...

Lt. Governor Bill Bolling takes the opportunity to inspire the crowd and encourage them to get out and talk with friends and neighbors about the upcoming election in Virginia and the importance of electing a strong, conservative, team to Richmond...

.

Without a doubt Bill Bolling is one of the best speakers to inspire a crowd and talk issues regarding what is going on in both our State and federal governments...

Bob McDonnell was the final speaker and had the crowd on their feet several times during the event. Unlike his opponent McDonnell spoke about what he intends to do if elected the Governor of the state of Virginia and how he will accomplish these goals.

.

While following the campaign I have seen his opponent propose solutions to problems and issues without providing the important facts such as how and what the programs will involve, how it will be accomplished, or how will we pay for it. Unfortunately many in the media started off by not asking the harder questions of this opponent and many citizens have seen that for what it is worth and I believe this is why so many more people are becoming involved in the campaigns. This is why there is such a large difference in energy levels between the two campaigns and the Candidates...

Candidate Dickie Bell with his Wife Anne...

Craig Shrewsbury, Bob McDonnell, and Jean Shrewsbury Commissioner of the Revenue for Augusta County...
