Augusta County Fair ~2010~ Congressman Bob Goodlatte....

Had the opportunity to walk with Congressman Bob Goodlatte when he stopped by the Augusta County Fair on Saturday afternoon. The Congressman stayed an extra 1-1/2 hours walking the fairgrounds and talking with many vendors and visitors to the fair...

So how do we get 535 members of Congress and the Senate to "The Rock"?...

After a intensive bike ride up on the Blue Ridge Parkway that ended with a pretty steep mile long climb up to Staton Falls, myself and the fellow GOP biker from Lexington happened along a two hour debate, discussion, argument, agreement, conflict, session with several people already at the falls….

All this at “The Rock”……

What was interesting was the diverse examples of backgrounds included in this discussion by the 5 people there and the numerous viewpoints resulting from the groups mixture…

Yup it went political…

At times it went environmental and cultural but after two hours of people talking as fast as they could, as loud as they could, and even overtop of those they disagreed with, the session ended with a better understanding of others viewpoints.

Fortunately at no time did anybody use the overused and overtaxed “We will have to agree to disagree” phrase for everybody pretty much had their opinions and beliefs but we left with a better understanding of other viewpoints.

Now if we could only get 535 members from D.C. to come down and spend some time at “The Rock”
