Solution?...

.

“We cannot build enough prisons to solve this problem. And the idea that we can keep incarcerating and keep incarcerating — pretty soon we’re not going to have a young African-American male population in America. They’re all going to be in prison or dead. One of the two.”

When asked what can be done about "inner-city kids partaking in violence" the Democratic Presidential Candidate John Edwards provided the above statement.

Mr. Presidential Candidate, As President of the United States what is your solution to this problem?

National Review On-line provided the following data: http://campaignspot.nationalreview.com/post/?q=Yjk3OGY3MDI4NjcyMGZjZjhjZTY2NDhmZTlkODhkMWI=

Despite popular misperception and those who find it a convenient talking point to illustrate inescapable racism, there are more young African-American men in college than in prison. In 2005, according to the Census Bureau, there were 864,000 black men in college. According to Justice Department statistics, there were 802,000 in federal and state prisons and jails; between the ages of 18 and 24, however, black men in college outnumber those incarcerated by 4 to 1.

UPDATE: Some readers are finding the numbers above confusing. The first set of numbers (comparing 864,000 to 802,000) refers to all black men of all ages. The 4 to 1 ratio is among black men between the ages of 18 to 24. In other words, a large percentage of that 802,000 are black men above the age of 24.

What does this say to the young African American males, who outnumber those who are in federal and state prisons, about how the Democratic Presidential Candidate feels about their reputation and future?

So what do you republicans want to do? Build more Jails?

Throw all of those you know will not vote for your guys in jail so they are not a problem to your majority?

Senator Edwards at least acknowledges the problem and brings it to the discussion.

Mediator,

Where is the solution?
Edwards pulls out a form of a race card to show that he cares about the African-American community but offers NO solution to the problem.

He states that if things continue "They’re all going to be in prison or dead" but avoids providing a solution. We need to address the problem of broken families and no family units anymore.

What would Edwards do?
Eliminate jails or dont punish the criminals?

Looking for votes is he?

At least Senator Edwards acknowledges the problem that the Black community faces and that the GOP ignores.

Bush and his people have only worried about their FAILED war in Iraq that he lied us into and does not care about the Black community at all.

Senator Edwards will help the black community by giving them a living wage and allow them to build themselves up.

Mediator07,

The democrats are far from being the party that cares about the African-American community. Yes they do care about the VOTES that they can get from the community but as soon as the election is over they continue to take advantage of the African Americans.

Mediator,

He acknowledges the problem but I do not see a solution. I could not find anywhere Edwards presenting a solution. He needs to understand that a major part of the problem is that we have a problem with a breakdown in families and responsibility. Edwards avoids this aspect all together.

What Edwards ignores is how the top Democratic Presidential Candidates could not provide a solid pullout of all troops by the end of their first term if elected. They could not promise that the troops would be out FIVE years from now and they are being taken to their gallows by the anti-war people who provided them $$$ during the 2006 elections...

Now your idol Rush Limbaugh has stepped in it and it is known that he dose not support any troops.

how will you guys lie your way out of this one?

Mediator,

Once again you have ignored the question posed and moved on to other attacks. Edwards still has not provided a solution to the problem and you avoid the question altogether...

I find it amusing that the top Democratic Candidates could not state that they would have the troops out in the next 5 years and the MSM ignores that also.

Rush will be fine for the text was taken out of context and there is much evidence of that. What is happening is the Democrat leadership in Reid is chasing a pipe dream and the American people see him for what he is...

What does it say about the Dem Candidates who can't promise the far left that they will be out in five years?
