A Strong GOP Team in Virginia...

.

Very good opportunity to meet with local Virginia bloggers yesterday at Lt. Governor Bill Bolling’s ~2nd Annual Bloggers' Day~ in Richmond and discuss current \ future events.

This type of gathering with political bloggers always leads to the next upcoming election and what the parties will do. Several of the guest speakers during the day provided data concerning which party held what seat during each changing political environment. It was interesting to see which way the trends went because of what the conditions were at that time. For myself it is much easier predicting future football game results even months into the future. My football team is the Chicago Bears and it’s pretty safe\easy to say there are going to lose their next game. Unfortunately this tactic is pretty reliable as evident in the Bears 2007 season…

The 2009 Virginia race will be for the Governor spot and with that the Republican party has two very strong candidates in Lt. Governor Bill Bolling and Attorney General Bob McDonnell.

In conversation it came up that the Lt. Governor is already doing an outstanding job in the Senate and the importance of keeping the Dem’s and their one-vote majority in check… It is evident that both the Lt. Governor and the Attorney General have their sights set on the top spot and the Democratic Party will be hard-pressed to find somebody to go up against either of our strong candidates.

The tough decision\selection of which GOP candidate to take the Governor’s seat will be made for the good of the party and both of these guys are qualified and willing to do the job.

When it comes time for that tough decision I might just have to be fishing that day!!!…

Sailfish are still running in Key West and boats are reporting impressive catch & release numbers...

What happens when they both run for the Governors office but only one can be nominated?

There goes your "Perfect" team.....

Why have it out? Keep Bolling in charge of the Senate and he'll work to grow our conservative base. He'll also be able to influence redistricting in the Senate better than anyone else.

McDonnell can win in NoVA, Hampton Roads and the Richmond suburbs and then pass the torch on to Bolling.

Let's have Moran and Deeds duke it out and show a unified GOP ticket that can win in 09 AND 13.

Good points both of you and sorry I dont have a known "Patriot" name to post under so Rightside it will be.

Both McDonnell and Bolling are strong conservatives who either can\will take the Governor position in 2009. I have faith that they will do what is right for the people of Virginia and keep\advance the leadership we need in Richmond.

During the Lt. Governors Bloggers day there were discussions of the future of the GOP in Richmond and statewide. It was encouraging to hear the plans and recruitment of strong candidates already in the works.

The Democrats may have gotten the easy-ride that came with the 2006 election but now they have to produce what they promised. I believe they did not get what they expected in Jim Webb and nationally with Pelosi and gang...
Any extra earmarks laying around?

The next year or so will prove to be very interesting...

They should cut a deal and give Bolling free reign in the Senate- he can get the majority back for us and then run in 2013.

I agree that Bolling would be a strong person to lead the Senate and keep that in place and probably will get the control back to the sane people again.

But what if the guys do not cut a deal and one of them gets knocked out in the primary? Worse yet what happens if it's a ugly campaign and both get knocked down and a Demoncrat takes the position?

There goes you Dream-Team...

The "Demoncrat" blogs are starting to talk about one of theirs starting a run for the Lt. Gov spot in 2009.

Don't believe they have antbody lined up for the TopSpot which is probably wise for either Bolling or McDonnell should be able to take that spot. At the Bolling Bloggers meeting on Wednesday it was good to see the strong plan they have to recruit people into the positions needed.

Back to back Bolling\McDonnell or McDonnell\Bolling would be outstanding and would get VA politics back on track. Right now the Democrats can't decide what they want to do and thaqt is evident in today's post about their "Civil Disobedience"...

Thank you for the rundown on Lt. Gov. Bollings 2nd annual Bloggers Day, Rightside.

I missed the daytime events and was only able to attend the dinner. It was a pleasure to see you again.

It will indeed be an interesting year running up to '09. The Republican Party in Virginia has two outstanding candidates, either one of whom will be very hard to beat.

We have a golden opportunity to rebuild the RPV and get back to basics. The only dark cloud I see on the horizon are the coyote-like political operatives still on the fringes despite their losing records and tactics.

Stand the storm.

Those "Operatives" tend to make more trouble then they are worth...
