A top economic adviser (Robert Reich) to President Obama has told a congressional panel the billions of dollars in the proposed economic stimulus plan should be allocated with social issues in mind, to make sure the money doesn't go to just "white male construction workers" or the highly skilled.

I'm new to all this blogging stuff but one thing I know is I'm a unemployed Union Operator that has'nt seen any "stimulus" money thrown my way out here in CA! Oh ya, did I mention I'm highly trained WMCW! Nuff said!!
I am/was self employed for 14 years, been in the construction biz for 23.I busted my butt struggling at 16 years old to raise a son and finished high school and some college while working construction.I have taken pride in being a lisenced, insured, tax paying business until now. After all of my donations to welfare, foodstamps, public housing free medical, school grants to even illegals plus my employees donations to the same now I find out I don't qualify for jack, nothing, notta.
Now unemployed, business hanging on by a prayer,I have nowhere to turn.I take pride in being a skilled white construction worker.
I've always hated the term racism because it represents all those that want a handout not a job but if this ain't racism I don't know what is.Question is;What are we going to do about it?
If it's O.K. with the blog owner here I would like to be a number here to build numbers.
voices of many are louder than one.Organization has to start somewhere.

We are approaching a tipping point where there will be more people getting "Assistance" from the govt in a form of somekind of check then those paying or producing the tax revenue. What happens when people get fed up with striving to do better and give up the extra effort for its not worth it anymore?>
that is part of a point I've tried to make to some people.
I want to continue working,I don't want a handout.I put so much into growing my business and sacrificed so much time with my family and now I wake up and wonder if I can't get work moving again and do my part and so many others are in the same boat, who is going to pay the taxes. How is all of this stimulas money going to get paid back if people with the get up and go have no where to go.
I'm a 38 year old construction worker. That's pretty much all I know and I have chased every lead on a job including BK.One point is I have worked full speed to be the best employe and employer I could be for the past 23-24 years and now to look at my family and say I don't know where to go makes me feel like a complete failure.
I'll dig deep and find something though.I AM A SURVIVOR
Gotta go
J.W.
