Buena Vista Labor Day Parade 2009...

The annual Labor Day Parade took place in Buena Vista with Bob McDonnell leading a large crowd of supporters and volunteers from the area in what has become the kick-off event leading to election day in November...

Bob was joined by Lt. Governor Bill Bolling who is running for re-election and a strong part of the Republican team of Bob McDonnell for Governor, Bill Bolling for Lt. Governor, and Ken Cuccinelli for Attorney General...

Attorney General Candidate Ken Cuccinelli and Dr. Larry Roller

Delegate Ben Cline works his district which includes Buena Vista and neighboring Lexington. Ben has represented this area well and received strong support from those along the parade route...

Suzanne Curran worked the "Drill Here, Drill Now" float and stressed the importance of developing the known oil & natural gas reserves off the coast of Virginia. This will decrease the dependency on foreign sources of oil. The "Drill Here, Drill Now" float also promoted alternative sources of energy such as windpower and the potential of this energy source along the many miles of mountains and coastlines in Virginia. Suzanne also reminded parade spectators that Bob McDonnell has a strong plan for energy development in Virginia including drilling for oil off the coast of Virginia while the Democratic Candidate has only stated that he would only "consider" drilling offshore....

This is one of the longer parade routes in the Valley and a break is needed every now and then...
