Hillary Clinton has been telling America that she is the most qualified candidate for president based on her 'record,' which she says includes her eight years in the White House as First Lady - or 'co-president' - and her seven years in the Senate.
Here is a reminder of what that record includes:

- As First Lady, Hillary assumed authority over Health Care Reform, a process that cost the taxpayers over $13 million. She told both Bill Bradley and Patrick Moynihan, key votes needed to pass her legislation, that she would 'demonize' anyone who opposed it. But it was opposed; she couldn't even get it to a vote in a Congress controlled by her own party. (And in the next election, her party lost control of both the House and Senate.)

- Hillary assumed authority over selecting a female Attorney General. Her first two recommendations, Zoe Baird and Kimba Wood, were forced to withdraw their names from consideration. She then chose Janet Reno. Janet Reno has since been described by Bill himself as 'my worst mistake.'

- Hillary recommended Lani Guanier for head of the Civil Rights Commission. When Guanier's radical views became known, her name had to be withdrawn.

- Hillary recommended her former law partners, Web Hubbell, Vince Foster, and William Kennedy for positions in the Justice Department, White House staff, and the Treasury, respectively. Hubbell was later imprisoned, Foster committed suicide, and Kennedy was forced to resign.

- Hillary also recommended a close friend of the Clintons, Craig Livingstone, for the position of director of White House security. When Livingstone was investigated for the improper access of up to 900 FBI files of Clinton enemies ("Filegate") and the widespread use of drugs by White House staff, both Hillary and her husband denied knowing him. FBI agent Dennis Sculimbrene confirmed in a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing in 1996, both the drug use and Hillary's involvement in hiring Livingstone. After that, the FBI closed its White House Liaison Office, after serving seven presidents for over thirty years.

-In order to open "slots" in the White House for her friends the Thomasons (to whom millions of dollars in travel contracts could be awarded), Hillary had the entire staff of the White House Travel Office fired; they were reported to the FBI for 'gross mismanagement' and their reputations ruined. After a thirty-month investigation, only one, Billy Dale, was charged with a crime - mixing personal money with White House funds when he cashed checks. The jury acquitted him in less than two hours.

- Another of Hillary's assumed duties was directing the 'bimbo eruption squad' and scandal defense:---- She urged her husband not to settle the Paula Jones lawsuit.---- She refused to release the Whitewater documents, which led to the appointment of Ken Starr as Special Prosecutor. After $80 million dollars of taxpayer money was spent, Starr's investigation led to Monica Lewinsky, which led to Bill lying about and later admitting his affairs.

---- Then they had to settle with Paula Jones after all.

---- And Bill lost his law license for lying to the grand jury

---- And Bill was impeached by the House.

---- And Hillary almost got herself indicted for perjury and obstruction of justice (she avoided it mostly because she repeated, 'I do not recall,' 'I have no recollection,' and 'I don't know' 56 times under oath).

- Hillary wrote 'It Takes a Village,' demonstrating her Socialist viewpoint.

- Hillary decided to seek election to the Senate in a state she had never lived in. Her husband pardoned FALN terrorists in order to get Latino support and the New Square Hassidim to get Jewish support. Hillary also had Bill pardon her brother's clients, for a small fee, to get financial support.

- Then Hillary left the White House, but later had to return $200,000 in White House furniture, China, and artwork she had stolen.

- In the campaign for the Senate, Hillary played the 'woman card' by portraying her opponent (Lazio) as a bully picking on her.

- Hillary's husband further protected her by asking the National Archives to withhold from the public until 2012 many records of their time in the White House, including much of Hillary's correspondence and her calendars. (There are ongoing lawsuits to force the release of those records.)

- As the junior Senator from New York, Hillary has passed no major legislation. She has deferred to the senior Senator (Schumer) to tend to the needs of New Yorkers, even on the hot issue of medical problems of workers involved in the cleanup of Ground Zero after 9/11.

- Hillary's one notable vote; supporting the plan to invade Iraq, she has since disavowed.
Quite a resume. Sounds more like an organized crime family's rap sheet.

"Ten Men go out for Dinner… Who Pays what?"…

I directed a co-worker to the following example of how taxes are being paid by people in different income levels after there was some confusion on the disparity of who pays what income tax. He found it a very interesting example of how are tax system is aligned and how some pay more then others and even those who pay no income tax at all…

He then presented this example to several of his friends and their comments were interesting to say the least….

Suppose that every day, ten men go out for dinner and the bill for all comes to $100.If they paid their bill the way we pay our taxes, it would go something like this:

The first four men (the poorest) would pay nothing like they do now with the present income tax structure.

The fifth would pay $1.

The sixth would pay $3.

The seventh would pay $7.

The eighth would pay $12.

The ninth would pay $18.

The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59 of the bill.

So that is what the ten men decide to do.

The ten men ate dinner in the restaurant every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement, until one day, the owner threw them a curve. “Since you all are such good customers I am going to reduce the cost of your daily meal by $20”. Dinner for the 10 men now costs just $80...

The group still wanted to pay the bill the same way that they paid their taxes so the first four men were unaffected. They would still eat for free. But what about the other six men -- the Paying customers? How could they divide the $20 windfall so that everybody would get his “Fair Share”?

They realized that $20 divided by six is $3.33. But they subtracted that from everybody’s share, then the fifth and sixth man would each end up being paid to eat their meal…So, the restaurant owner suggested it would be fair to reduce each mans bill roughly the same amount; and proceeded to work out the amounts each man would pay.

The fifth, like the first four now paid nothing (100% savings).

The sixth man now paid $2 instead of $3 (33% savings)

The seventh man now paid $5 instead of $7 (28% savings)

The eight man now paid $9 instead of $12 (25% savings)

The ninth man now paid $14 instead of $18 (22% savings)

The tenth man now paid $49 instead of $59 (16% savings)

Each of the six was better off then before. And the first four continued to eat for free. But once outside the restaurant, the men began to compare their savings…

“I only got a dollar out of the $20,” declared the sixth man. He pointed to the tenth man “but he got $10”…“Yeah, that’s right,” exclaimed the fifth man. “I only saved a dollar, too. Its unfair that he got ten times more than me!?”“That’s true”, shouted the seventh man. “Why should he get $10 back when I got only two? The wealthy get all the breaks!”“Wait a minute,” yelled the first four men in unison. “We didn’t get anything at all. The system exploit’s the poor!”The nine men surrounded the tenth man and beat him up…

The next night the Tenth man did not show up for dinner, so the Nine sat down and ate without him. But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something important. They didn’t have enough money between all of them for even half the bill!

And that Boys & Girls, journalists and college professors, is how our tax system works. The people who pay the highest taxes get the most benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just might not show up anymore. In fact, they might start eating overseas where the atmosphere is somewhat friendlier…David R. The interesting thing is the comments that my co-worker got back from the group, who was made up with a vast majority of Obama & Hillary supporters, when he presented this example.

“It’s only fair that the rich guy pays more for he has more then the other guys”…
“It’s about time that the Rich pays their fair share”…
“Need to trim the fat on the top”…

When my co-worker brought up the point that the top 2 to 3 men in this example already were paying the vast amount of the bill and how was that fair he was shouted down by the group.

My co-worker then stated that one of the Clinton supporters brought up the fact that there was a $$$Trillion$$$ dollar surplus when Bill Clinton was President and President Bush has now run the economy into the ground. The discussion pretty much broke down into a Bush-bashing session thus preventing any logical debate to ensue…

The co-worker now has a list of simple questions to ask his “Clinton supporter” friend and the group at their next gathering…

Did the “Clinton” treasury actually have that Trillion dollar surplus or was that a projected “Surplus” over the next ten years, with the same rate of growth, interest rates, and stock market???…

Would this Trillion dollar surplus have continued if the attacks of 9/11 had happened on President Clinton’s watch???…

If President Clinton did in fact have a Trillion dollar surplus why did he not then fix the Social Security, Medicare, Healthcare problems???…

If it was a known fact that the levees around New Orleans were not sufficient and could not withstand a Cat 3 or higher hurricane, why didn’t President Clinton spend that Trillion dollar surplus on repairing this???…

The above example of “who pays what” when it comes around to paying income tax has been around for awhile. The exact amount of how much each man pays may have changed since this example first appeared. Since the Bush tax cuts went into effect there is even a higher % of income earners who no longer pay income tax. The above example shows the first four men not having to pay any of the bill. In fact now this may also apply to the fifth man. With that the higher 5% of income tax payers are paying a higher % of the total bill… Many of us middle income earners are employed by those who invest their money in creating new businesses and jobs. What happens if the top guy does not show up to dinner tomorrow?

$860,000 Deal or No Deal !!!...

I had the opportunity to attend the local Augusta County Republican breakfast event at Mrs. Rowe’s restaurant yesterday that had guest speaker Paul Harris from Americans for Prosperity. Very interesting and informative about the foundations efforts to keep America prosperous and an environment for all citizens to grow and prosper.

In attendance was Republican Delegate Ben Cline who is also a member of Americans for Prosperity and spoke of his efforts in the Virginia assembly to highlight and inform the public of wasteful spending within the state government.

One of the things that Delegate Cline brought up was the amount of money spent by the Virginia Lottery to advertise the States lottery program. Delegate Cline informed the room full of Republicans and local media representatives that the Virginia Lottery has a advertising of $26+ million dollars.

This advertising budget has been used to promote the lottery which offers numerous ways for the public to legally gamble their money with some of the proceeds going to the Virginia education system. A check of the Virginia State Lottery website shows that lottery sales for the fiscal year of 2007 was over $1.3 billion and with that $437.1 million, or 32% went to education grades K-12th. $791.7 million went to the lottery winners, $76.4 million to the Retailer’s, and $68 million to the Virginia State Lottery for “Operating” expenses…

Delegate Cline then pointed out that after numerous requests, it was disclosed that the “operating” expense account of the Virginia State Lottery included the payment of $250,000 to Donald Trump for the use of his name and image on a past “Scratcher” lottery ticket.

Cline also discovered that the Virginia State Lottery has paid $860,000 from it’s operating budget for the use of the “Deal or No Deal” theme for the above “Scratcher” ticket.

I also found that the Virginia State Lottery is presently offering or soon will be a total of 83 “Scratcher” lottery tickets… http://www.valottery.com/scratchers/new.asp

With total lottery sales in 2007 being over $1.3 billion dollars with 32% of that going to our education system as required by state law, do we really need 83 different scratch lottery tickets? Is it really required to spend $860,000 on a single lottery ticket theme to ensure or maintain lottery sales? Will those playing the lottery now stop if themes like “Deal or No Deal” are not offered?

What if we stopped spending so much like a quarter million dollars to use Trump’s image or close to a million dollars for “No Deal” and spent that money on teacher raises and better books?

VA Democratic Delegate Paul Nichols "Over sixty Need-Not-Apply"...

Looks like Virginia Democratic Delegate Paul Nichols D-57 pretty much stepped in it when he insinuated that Virginians over the age sixty may not be that productive in the workforce anymore.

The Democratic Delegate took the floor down in Richmond and was speaking in opposition of a bill that would raise the retirement age of judges from 70 to 73 years.

Virginia Presidential Primary Voting Information...

Numerous requests for information about the upcoming Virginia Presidential Primary on February 12th, 2008...

Information on the Dual Presidential PrimaryFebruary 12, 2008
(A dual primary is actually two primary elections conducted concurrently.)

When you get to the polls, you will be asked "Do you wish to vote in the Democratic Party Primary? OR Do you wish to vote in the Republican Party Primary?"

Why do I have to state a party preference to vote in this election? Under Virginia law, a dual primary consists of two separate elections conducted on the same day for the same office or offices. There are separate pollbooks, separate ballots and/or ballots boxes, and results for each primary are tallied separately. Virginia law only allows you to vote in one of these two separate elections. See Codes below…
All persons qualified to vote may vote in either primary. (§ 24.2-530)
But, the voter may not vote in both primaries held on the same date, even if the desire is to vote for candidates running for different offices. (§ 24.2-530)
No voter may be challenged on their choice of a primary. (§ 24.2-530)
The choice to vote in a party's primary does not mean that the voter will be "registered" with that party.
Is this party registration? No. Voter registration by political party does not exist. Your name will be marked in the pollbook for the party in whose primary you choose to vote, and that information will be available to that political party after the election.

Why can’t I vote in both primaries or vote for candidates from different parties?Virginia is an open primary state which means that any qualified voter can vote in either party's primary election. Virginia does not have party registration in its voter registration process. In other words, citizens do not designate a political party affiliation when registering to vote in Virginia. Virginia election law stipulates that while any qualified voter may voter in either political party's primary election, no voter may vote in more than one political party's primary on the same election day.

New ID Requirements for Certain Voters
For persons who registered to vote in Virginia by mailing their registration applications on or after January 1, 2003, the federal Help America Vote Act of 2002 requires those persons to show identification (ID) when voting for the first time in a federal election if they did not send a copy of one of these IDs with their voter registration applications. Any of the following types of ID are acceptable:
A current and valid photo ID (for example a driver’s license);
or a current utility bill, bank statement, government check or paycheck that shows name and address;
or another government document that shows name and address (for example a voter card).
This new federal ID requirement applies the first time a person votes in any federal election, either on the day of the election or by absentee ballot. If the voter does not present one of these forms of ID at the polls, that person can still vote, but must cast a conditional ballot. A Strong GOP Team in Virginia...

Very good opportunity to meet with local Virginia bloggers yesterday at Lt. Governor Bill Bolling’s ~2nd Annual Bloggers' Day~ in Richmond and discuss current \ future events.

This type of gathering with political bloggers always leads to the next upcoming election and what the parties will do. Several of the guest speakers during the day provided data concerning which party held what seat during each changing political environment. It was interesting to see which way the trends went because of what the conditions were at that time. For myself it is much easier predicting future football game results even months into the future. My football team is the Chicago Bears and it’s pretty safe\easy to say there are going to lose their next game. Unfortunately this tactic is pretty reliable as evident in the Bears 2007 season…

The 2009 Virginia race will be for the Governor spot and with that the Republican party has two very strong candidates in Lt. Governor Bill Bolling and Attorney General Bob McDonnell.

In conversation it came up that the Lt. Governor is already doing an outstanding job in the Senate and the importance of keeping the Dem’s and their one-vote majority in check… It is evident that both the Lt. Governor and the Attorney General have their sights set on the top spot and the Democratic Party will be hard-pressed to find somebody to go up against either of our strong candidates.

The tough decision\selection of which GOP candidate to take the Governor’s seat will be made for the good of the party and both of these guys are qualified and willing to do the job.

When it comes time for that tough decision I might just have to be fishing that day!!!…

Took the opportunity to attend the "2nd Annual Bloggers' Day at the State Capitol" along with 25 other Virginia area bloggers in Richmond today that was hosted by Lt. Governor Bill Bolling...

The Lt. Governor conducted a quick introduction meeting before going to preside over the Senate session...

The Lt. Governors staff then provided the opportunity for us to view the Senate session in progress.

Afterwards the bloggers met with the Lt. Governor again to listen to speakers including a Senate member, a Delegate, and individuals specializing in voter programs and history with Virginia state government...

Senator Stephen Newman serves as Chairman of the Senate Republican Caucus and spoke of recent activities going on in the Republican Party in Richmond...

Delegate Jackson Miller represents manassas and discussed the importance of several local bloggers in his district. He took several questions and provided informative and interesting issues going on in his area...

Frank Atkinson is chairman of McGuireWoods Consulting and focuses on state and local government relations, economic development, privatization and public-private partnerships, education, and elections and voting rights. He provided interesting facts regarding voting history in different areas of Virginia and demographics....
