Augusta County United States Marines

.

The bridge carrying Va. 608 over Interstate 64 in Fishersville, was named the Lance Corporal Jason Redifer Memorial Bridge this past week in Augusta County...

The Va. 256 span over Interstate 81 at Weyers Cave officially was renamed the Lance Corporal Daniel Scott Resner Bubb Memorial Bridge during a ceremony at the Augusta County Government Center.

A third Shenandoah Valley native, Marine Lance Cpl. Todd Morris, a Wilson Memorial High graduate, was killed in February near Haqlaniyah, near the Anbar province, by a landmine. The 19-year-old Morris was from Raphine.

Republican Delegate Steve Landes, R-Weyers Cave, introduced the bill to rename the bridges in honor of Bubb and Redifer.
“They served the United States and the commonwealth ably. They went above and beyond the call of duty,” Landes said.

I don't think any of us are surprised at that.

Rightside--when has the News Leader ever provided decent news coverage. They prefer soap operas. The world will stop rotating the day that paper provides Leadership.

I would certainly hope that it was just a miscommunication or something of the like that caused the Leader to miss it. Through Rhonda's involvement in politics, we've unfortunately become hardened to hurtful actions from the hard core left, but the Bubb family did nothing to deserve a snubbing. I'm just thankful we live in an area where thoughtful leaders such as Steve Landes represent us. He and Chris Saxman, as well as the majority of the board of supervisors all took time from their schedules for this ceremony, and it, as well as the press coverage which it did recieve, were well appreciated by us. Thanks for the post, Rightside..

No but if you chain yourself to a tree or something in your front yard, you get the front page..

Much more newsworthy than honoring those who fight for our Country..

Just for that I will not buy the Mis Leader again tomorrow morning, just as always....

StepDad,

The guys have noticed and appreciate your comments. Spanky is right when he points out that coverage of Fruit-loops chaining themselves to doghouses in protest truly shows the priorities over at the NewsLeader...

The newsVirginian did a great job with the story and it shows why people are moving over to them. I have been getting the NV for over a year and they have comeout of the old editor Todd Foster well and have a bright future...

Blogs and internet news have come a long way but hardcopy papers still have a place and a following in the older crowd. Wonder how many old people with tie-dye shirts the NewsLeader will get out on a Anti-Bush march in Staunton with that being the growing bulk of their readership?
