Who to "Call" when we get to $5 a gallon...

.

Mark Levin mentioned this on his show yesterday and RED STATE provided this information on how Congress is working on the energy issue.

When gasoline reached $2 then $3 a gallon people began to “complain” but did little to cut back on consumption. At $4 a gallon the consumption has been cut back 5-7% and people are complaining that much louder.

Wait until it gets to $5 a gallon and I predict people will be calling on Congress and telling them that they do not care one bit which party they belong too and they will be voted out at next election…

The interesting thing is let’s look at “who has voted for what” in the past and who is actually keeping technology, private industry, and the free market from increasing energy sources being added to the inventory and market…

In a breakdown of top energy issues, you'll find the GOP is in favor of more options for energy than the Democrats.

ANWR Exploration
House Republicans: 91% Supported
House Democrats: 86% Opposed
Coal-to-LiquidHouse
Republicans: 97% Supported
House Democrats: 78% Opposed
Oil Shale Exploration
House Republicans: 90% Supported
House Democrats: 86% Opposed
Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) Exploration
House Republicans: 81% Supported
House Democrats: 83% Opposed
Refinery Increased Capacity
House Republicans: 97% Supported
House Democrats: 96% Opposed

If you want oil prices to go down down down CALL THE WHITE HOUSE AND JOHN MCCAIN....whenever George, Dick or John start their rants about Iran the oil price goes up up and away. Recently voters have asked them to shut up so they currently have their minions in Israel starting to talk about bombing Iran.

We are already in two wars we don't need a third.

BTW, we really don't want any more big oil giveaways. Right now ALL that legislation does is give BIG DISCOUNTS to BIG OIL TO DRILL AND TAKE OUR NATURAL RESOURCES AND SELL THE OIL ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD>

WE NEED TO KEEP OUR OIL FOR AMERICA AND THEN WE CAN USE IT WHEN WE REALLY NEED IT.

So call John Mccain and Bush and Cheney and tell them to shut up about Iran....of course they may not listen b/c they have lots of money and their oil cronies are greedy types...so they may only listen to you long enough (Until theNov elections) then they might bomb Iran anyway since it's "us" that end up paying the bill.
BUZZ...BUZZ....

Clearly BOTH political parties have betrayed the citizens.

We could drag them into the streets and shoot them in the back of their corruption filled heads, or we could have mobs lynch them and hang their corpses from the trees in the Capital square.

That's the way our forefathers' had to deal with tyranny.

However, those wise statesmen passed down to us a way to conduct revolution without having stinking copses in our gutters and hanging from our trees.

We have the vote! At least a small percentage of us actually exercise our voting rights, and if we could just agree to THROW THE BUMS OUT, we could get a fresh start with new, less corrupt, Representatives.

So, for the next few election cycles, previous adversaries among the Democratic and Republican rank and file must UNITE and vote against EVERY incumbent. Spare none of them as they are ALL part of the problem. We the People, must step up to the plate and fix this. THROW THE BUMS OUT; every single one of them.

I agree with your point but after what I saw happen at my recent mass meeting we can talk about that later. Watch those guys over at the 6th district committee that they don't decide "What you meant to vote" instead...

It is true that it is our responsibility to hold our elected officials responsible for their votes and actions. I found this info from RED STATE very interesting and I have printed it out on a small index card so I can pass the "Facts" onto those so they can see which party has voted which way.

Mosquito,

So are you saying we should avoid confronting a country that is calling for the elimination of Israel and the evil “satan” America so they will keep the cost of oil down?

As with many “giveaways” the companies or people become dependent on them and instead of thinking of them as “help” they depend on them too much. The oil companies do bring in a big profit “amount” but when we look at the profit “percentage” it is considered low compared to many other companies\industry. We could go back and cut out all of these “giveaways” but will that make the industry more stable and increase production? We are very fortunate that we can go to any station and get the fuel we need when we want it. The free market supplies that.

The free market will adjust and solve this problem as it has done in the past. By mandating a solution you tend to run into more problems then solutions. Look at ethanol. Costs more, produces less energy, and cuts down food supply. Our Govt has mandated this as a solution and the errors are beginning to show themselves already.

As far as keeping our oil for ourselves and use it when we really need it, when will that be? Many environmentalist and the Congresspeople who have voted against drilling in ANWR and off the United States claim that the oil would not reach us until 10 years from now. Where are we in 10 years if we do not start now? What if Clinton had not stopped drilling in ANWR 10 years ago as he did? Also, do you really believe it would take 10 years to come on line? Let the free market system work.

You seem to attack and blame Mccain, Bush, and Cheney a lot in your comment but yet ignore those on the list who continue to vote against allowing our energy independence with new sources. Iran is not a energy source problem but a security, survival, and human rights issue. If we are only interested in taking Iran for the oil why did we give back Kuwait after we liberated it? If we are only in Iraq for oil why did we build security bases instead of oil transfer industries to feed Iraq’s oil to us only?

And in your post RS, you seem to attack and blame only Dems, and ignore the years of Republican rule that did nothing to encourage energy independence. In fact, just this week Senate Republicans filibustered the Renewable Energy and Job Creation Act. While you are making cards of talking points, you may want to save room for both parties.

Investment in new REsources are needed, not just continued 'dig-it-up-and-burn-it' approaches. So are standards for conservation. Thirty years ago when Carter set up the DOE and encouraged all of these things, the public rejected it. So, I agree that change will only come when the public reaches a tipping point and builds the will for it.

As for Iran being a security issue. That seems to be continually contradicted by our NIEs.

Zen,

Agreed and that is why I have you to point the other side of the coin when needed.

I agree with the fact that we have ignored conservation efforts in the past and developing technologys such as solar. Great idea and clean energy but just does not produce enough to make it worthwhile. Now that the cost of fuel is up high where it is the Free Market will make it worthwhile. I like Wind power but we know the blocks being set up there also. Let the price get to $5 a gallon and the pressure on Congress will get things done once there is the fear of getting voted out.

Nothing like a high $$$ cost to get people motivated...
